Vehicle Dynamics Portfolio
Objective: Create a portfolio consisting of a variation of vehicle dynamics analyses to investigate their effects on vehicle performance.
Built a straight line acceleration simulation in excel, and investigated the affect drag, downforce, weight transfer, elevation, incline, and etc. had on the performance of the vehicle form 0-60 and 0-200 mph.
Used ADAMS to compare and investigate suspension performance of simplified single and double degree of freedom systems to inputs such as a pot-hole and a road profile.
- Investigated damping characteristics of a under, over, and critically damped vehicle to a step input using a simplified bicycle model in excel.
- Created a two-degree of freedom bicycle model in ADAMS with a speed controller and Pacejka tire model to investigate handling characteristics and compare to the simplified excel model.
- Compared the UniTire, Semi-Empirical, and Fiala tire models for their advantages and disadvantages, and their use in the field of vehicle dynamics.
